She’s a powerful woman who once had a flourishing tailoring workshop with two apprentices working under her. Due to the crisis, she lost everything and is now an IDP in a strange city, Douala. Alice struggles to fend for her kids and her foster child Brandon (far right) by working in people’s farms in her host community in Bonaberi. Sometimes she gets paid cash, but sometimes she prefers food in return. Alice’s four kids were sleeping on bare floor in their tiny wood house. During our first visit after hearing their story, when we were leaving, Brandon asked our Founder, “auntie please could you bring us a mattress when next you’re coming?” Thanks to your donation, we were able to provide Brandon and his siblings a mattress, pay his tuition and other food supplies.

Hope for Cameroon is establishing a center where Alice and other IDP women like her can earn a sustainable livelihood. Let’s keep supporting families like Alice and show them that though they are displaced, they’re not forgotten.
